Is there a tree on your property that’s seen better days? Tree removal can be a serious undertaking, but it’s best to address the issue before the tree falls down, damaging your home and potentially injuring someone.

Here are some signs it’s time to remove a tree:

There are branches hanging over your property

A branch hanging over your roof can come down during a storm, causing expensive roof damage. However, hanging branches may not mean that you have to remove the entire tree. In some cases, you can just trim the branches. That said, large branches or the upper part of a trunk leaning over the building are signs the tree definitely needs to come down.

The tree looks diseased

Diseased trees are also a risk for falling onto your property. Look for signs of disease such as discolored leaves, leaves with nodules, weak branches that are prone to snapping off, rotting roots, blackened bark, a rotten trunk or rotten branches.

The tree is entangled in power lines

This is a very dangerous situation. A tree entangled in power lines needs to be taken down immediately by someone with experience in hazardous tree removal.

Roots are too close to your home’s foundation

This situation can cause damage to the foundation and underground pipes.
